[Personal] Building event

Ok so, i have recently seen a lot of pvp tournaments and other events, so i have decided to create my own event that has nothing to do with the points system. Since i dont like pvp, i thought building would be the best idea.

What is is? The event will feature building the best house. You will use your own area to make the best house you can in a 15x15x15 cube area.

Rules:
-I will be judging with a few other friends and choose the winner
-You must comment here to join, and a minimum of 10 people to get the event started
-Less than 10 people and i will not hold the event
-It costs 25k to join
-Winner gets 100k + collection of all disks (except 11)

Building rules:
-Cannot have any rare blocks (endstone, hacked items, sponges)
-Must have a door, roof, and walls*
-Redstone is accepted, but will not improve your score much
-Have to have a sign on the house with your name, and "Dube Build Event 2012"
-Have to be able to walk there from a warp (no random builds in the wild)
-Must build on or within a 15x15x15 area (you will be disqualified if went outside)
-No underground items, including redstone (whole building must be in the cube)
-Must be judged and aproved by me.

How to enter:
Just post your ingame name, and say that you will join the event. I will keep this open for a week, then see how many people want to join. After the next thread is created, you must pay before the event starts. If less then 10 people pay, then the event will be canceled and be refunded. *EDIT* Sorry, yes that is extreme profit because i forgot to add that the winner had to have there house //cut to my winning area in portal3. Thats costs nearly 70k.

Wow!?! You are going to make tons of profit off this event! The winner get 100,000, but we have to pay 25,000 and there has to be at least 10 people to hold the event? You will make 150,000 if only 10 people sign up.

But the discs, they are ever so valuable...

u get 75k for putting an hour or more into building a sweet house that you supply the materials for yourself then will have it moved to a different location at dube's expense. So 75k. Since you pay 25k and get back 100k, for winning a competition that involves more than 10 people with a prize pool over 250k. Pot Odds sonn...ALL IN. 4-1 Pot odds with 10 people in the hand. FOLD!

I agree Sadd! In the end, after material expences you will break even + or - say 10,000. If you really expect to win, people will have to spends lots of money to build a really nice house. We say again, there is no incentive to buid a house which you will end up keeping.

There...you just said it! It's not all about the money, but you will be pocketing over 100,000 while we who participate basically get nothing in the end. If we win all we can say is that we built an awesome house that cost 100,000 and donated it to your town. kind of a rip off and makes no sense.

I will not be, because i have to spend that money to showcase the house. If you do not want to join, please do not comment negative things on my thread please

I want to Join. It just basically seems like all we would be doing is donating to you. I am just trying to better understand a reason why myself and others should participate.

This is what I understand so far:
Each person pays 25,000
at least 10 must enter
total money purse is 250,000
winner gets back 100,000
you pay 70,000 for cut/paste of the winning house
your final take away is 80,000 and a new house
winner loses his house and is paid 100,000 (will probably just break even since we would lose the building materials)
losers get to keep their house and are out 25,000 pluse building expenses

I think you should think about putting some of your own money into this event for the winner, or at least reimburse him for the building materials he would be losing.

I think it's more or less a fundraiser and to get people aware of his new city, Portal3. And that's fine for those who wish to donate and participate and stuff. I wish dube the best in finding enough people to join, i know how hard it is to organize an event, especially when people demand the moon and the stars for prizes.

Excactly. Thank you for understanding this. Also, it would be a privilege to showcase your work in my town, and its still yours, just in a new location, you just cant use it. Im trying to make this a fun event with a cash reward. I am going to post new rules/money/stuff on sunday if no one seems to be interested.

I would join once i get 25k to enter i think it sounds fun i think the only problem is that why does the winner pay 70k to //cut and paste it.
